Fan slashed at high school basketball game

BAY SHORE – Police arrested a West Babylon man after he allegedly slashed a fan during a basketball game at Bay Shore High School Tuesday night.  The incident happened during a Class B championship game between Wyandanch and Malverne high schools. 

During an altercation involving several people, that spilled onto the court,  Joel Foster, 21, allegedly slashed George Pinckney, 44, near his right ear.  Pinckney drove himself to a hospital where he received 15 stitches and was released.

School security broke up the melee.  Police, including Gang Unit officers, investigated, then arrested Foster, who was charged with second degree assault. 

The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 631-854-8352.
